During the adolescent years teens navigate social, emotional and physical changes while contemplating their place in the community and universe. These betwixt years of life are a transition period and a time of exploration.

Corning Promise envisions a strong system that supports every adolescent’s academic, emotional and career success by supporting rigorous coursework, career exploration and therapeutic services.

What we’re doing

Corning Promise invests in a range of supports that prepare teens for healthy futures full of promise and opportunity.

  • Expanded dual enrollment courses that enable students to receive college credit while in high school;
  • Professional development for high school math teachers;
  • Specialized English Learner counselors worked to promote English Learners’ success and college and career readiness;
  • Professional development to prepare teachers to implement best practices effectively to support English Learner student learning in a blended environment;
  • Targeted academic support for students struggling in classes;
  • College summer advisement for recent and previously graduated students;
  • College and career support for high school seniors and graduates; and
  • School-based therapeutic counseling.
